Michael Schenker Band (with support acts Eric Martin & Images of Eden)

Sherman Theater, Stroudsburg, PA

Thursday Oct, 27th 2022

The Michael Schenker Group Fall 2022 “50th Anniversary” US tour hit the Northeast part of the country mid/ late Oct, performing in many small theaters in the NY/ NJ/ PA area. With stacked triple bill, including support acts Eric Martin & Images of Eden, patrons were treated to a 3 plus hour evening of music!

Eric Martin of Mr. Big fame, brought his scaled down part electric/ part acoustic band out on the road for this, including members of Trixter, Ted Nugent and the Darryl Hall band. Limited to only 30 minutes, they delivered a high-energy set of all Mr. Big songs, including hits such as Alive & Kickin’ and Wild World plus some deeper tracks. 30 plus years into his career, Eric Martin still has the looks and the pipes to go along with it. A great warm up!

The MSG hit the stage at 9PM sharp and played a powerful 90-minute set consisting of a mix of songs from the latest release “Universal”, plus MSG and UFO classics and deep cuts. Consisting of band members Ronnie Romero (vocals), Steve Mann, Barend Courbois, & Bodo Schopf & of course Michael himself, the experience & professionalism of the unit resulted in an efficient & high caliber concert!

Michael, looking fit and youthful in his all-black clothes and hat, was all smiles all night and was very engaged with the audience. His guitar tone and sound were near perfect, especially for the fans who had all eyes on him during songs such as Into The Arena, Doctor Doctor & Rock Bottom.

In addition to Mr. Schenker, a big highlight was the presence of Ronnie Romero in the touring unit. Ronnie, a native of Spain & who is only 40 years old, has already earned his stripes in the industry by touring with Rainbow and has become a real treasure in MSG! Ronnie displayed his poise & maturity fronting the band, and was superb in his connecting with the audience. His voice is a perfect for these classics & he really shined on songs such as Armed and Ready & Assault Attack.

Post show, this Writer had a brief brush in with Michael outside the venue, but in a very unconventional way! Whereas most rock legends travel in style, there was the man himself leaving the venue DRIVING in what presumably is his own personal car (a nice luxury Cadillac!). Michael was nice enough to take a quick photo with me via the window before he drove off. Different? Indeed, but still cool nonetheless!

Not Really The best of pics with Michael, but still was a great ending to a fantastic night of music.
