JUDAS PRIEST Kicks Off U.S. Leg Of 2024 'Invincible Shield' Tour In Wallingford, Connecticut

Apr 19, 2024

British heavy metal legends JUDAS PRIEST kicked off the U.S. leg of their "Invincible Shield" world tour last night (Thursday, April 18) at Toyota Oakdale Theatre in Wallingford, Connecticut.

Metal Mayhem ROC super fan Andy Lawner took in the show along with some family members and was not disappointed as stated on his personal Facebook feed.  “Last night in CT, damn glad I made it. Thanks for the show, Bro!” As a veteran of several 80’s Judas Priest tours, Andy was thrilled at the chance to both visit with his older brother Steve as well as catch the “Metal Gods “once again. “I was on my way to Virginia for a work event so I figured a quick detour to Connecticut wouldn’t hurt anybody”. Well Andy. THAT is SOOO Metal!!

Here are some shots from the outside of the venue as well as Merch set ups for both opening band SABATON and headliner JUDAS PRIEST:

SABATON are perhaps best known for their electrifying live concerts, combining accomplished musical performances and a finely-crafted stage show – including their full-sized tank drum-riser – with energy and laughter. The band has headlined as far afield as North America, Australia and Japan, and regularly fills arenas and takes top-billed slots at festivals across Europe. They are direct support for Judas Priest during this US spring tour. Here are some candid shots from the show:

 SABATON setlist was as follows:

JUDAS PRIESTt kicks off their 6-week U.S. Spring 2024 Invincible Shield Tour pretty much where they left off from their recently completed Europe tour with a nice mixture of old classics, more recent deep cuts and a fresh dose of newer tracks from the latest CD. The band is keeping things fresh with a “A” “B” and “C” rotating set list for each nightly tour stop.

Tonight’s stand out “Deep Cut” had to be ‘Devils Child from 1982’s Screaming for Vengeance with Saints in Hell from 1978’s-Stained Class closely behind it. The band chose three new songs to showcase with the title track Invincible Shield, Crown of Thorns and set opener Panic Attack.

Concert staples included Breaking the Law and Turbo Lover with a encore set of The Hellion, Hell Bent For Leather and Living after Midnight.
