Venom Announce New Album Into Oblivion, Share First Single “Lay Down Your Soul”

Legendary UK extreme metal pioneers Venom have announced their brand-new studio album Into Oblivion, scheduled for release May 1, 2026 via Noise Records / BMG.

The record marks the band’s first new studio material since 2018’s Storm The Gates and continues the legacy of one of the most influential bands in the history of extreme metal.

Venom needs no introduction. From their birth in Newcastle in 1979 they paved the way for extreme metal and created their own genre, Black Metal. That influence remains strong today, with the band’s impact still reaching across the global heavy music scene.

Into Oblivion is Venom’s sixteenth studio album and features the long-standing lineup of Cronos (bass/vocals and founding member), Rage (guitar) and Dante (drums). The album marks their first new recordings since 2018’s Storm The Gates.

The record consists of thirteen songs that capture signature Venom: heavy, evil and catchy. The material blends the band’s classic early-80s sound with a more modern sonic approach while maintaining the fire and brimstone that has defined Venom for decades.

The album has been in the works for several years, with delays caused by the Covid pandemic, recording setbacks and the band’s determination to perfect the final product.

Cronos commented:

“This album has really pushed the boundaries, but if you want to make a killer album, you pay for it in blood, sweat and tears.”

Rage added:

“I’m so proud of this album, it’s astounding! It feels so different, yet so familiar. The sonics are a step up, no song sounds the same, but they all work together.”

The lead single “Lay Down Your Soul” serves as the first preview of the album and draws inspiration from the band’s early era, particularly the classic track Black Metal. The song features the trademark Venom energy with a heavy groove and a chant-ready chorus built for the live stage.

Cronos explains:

“I think it’s healthy to recognise things from back in the day and bring them into a new setting that gives it a whole fresh approach. The fans are going to go mental for it!”

The chemistry on Into Oblivion also reflects the longevity of the current lineup, which has now been together for seventeen years.

Dante commented:

“It’s gone like that, seventeen years! It’s all down to friendship and mutual respect.”

Into Oblivion will be released May 1, 2026 and will be available in multiple formats including vinyl editions, CD digisleeve and digital.
