Randy Rhoads Statue Petition Targets Burbank’s Stough Park

Apr 05, 2026

A growing petition is calling on the city of Burbank, California to honor legendary guitarist Randy Rhoads with a permanent public statue—proposed for a location deeply tied to his origins: Stough Park.

Rhoads, whose groundbreaking work with Ozzy Osbourne and Quiet Riot helped redefine heavy metal guitar, spent his entire life in Burbank, where his musical identity was forged.

Supporters behind the campaign argue that honoring Rhoads in Burbank isn’t symbolic—it’s personal. The city represents not just where he lived, but where he taught, performed, and developed the sound that would later influence generations of guitarists worldwide.

A key focus of the proposal is Stough Park, a location with direct historical significance. Long before global recognition, Rhoads performed there with early versions of Quiet Riot, using the space as a proving ground for the technique and stage presence that would define his career.

Kathy Rhoads D'Argenzio - Randy's Sister

The Rhoads family was approached with the idea to commemorate Randy Rhoads with a statue erected in his honor. Randy was a life-long Burbank resident. His family has lived there since 1952. His guitar contribution and impact is monumental to this day. Even after 44 years of his passing. He was a musical genius and a kind, humble. loving soul. His legendary music will go down in history. The Rhoads family would be honored to have a lasting statue here in Burbank to honor him.

Bob Daisley - Bass Player with Randy Rhoads and Ozzy Osbourne

I’m so very pleased to see the plan for a Randy Rhoads statue becoming a reality. I had the pleasure and honour of working with Randy in creating two of Rock’s dearly loved albums with the band The Blizzard of Ozz. I have fond memories of our time together, both professionally and socially. Randy was a special person and musician; may his likeness be immortalised in this Burbank statue. Blessings to you, Randy, ol’ mate, we shall meet again!

Neil Zlozower - Legendary Photographer

I have been a photographer in the music industry for over 55 years and have worked with 1000's of the most famous musicians who ever "graced" this planet. I had the GREAT FORTUNE of knowing and working with guitarist Randy Rhoads who will go down in history as one of the greatest, most dedicated, influential guitarist of all time. He practiced all styles of music, not just rock n roll. Besides his guitar talents, he was one of the nicest, human beings I have ever worked with and was IDOLIZED by thousands of fans worldwide!!! And as long as I knew Randy, he was always a "Burbank boy" at heart!!!!!

Kelly Garni - Bassist for Quiet Riot

My name is Kelly Garni. I grew up with Randy Rhoads and he taught me to play bass. Once the two of us were good enough, we would go to Stough Park to jam with these guys who played there on weekends in the early 1970s. We wanted to grow up and become rockstars, history was being made at Stough. From there we went on to form world famous heavy metal band Quiet Riot. Randy went on to become the guitar player in Ozzy Osbournes new band. Randy quickly became legendary and went on to inspire generations of guitar players. Stough Park is a great place to honor his accomplishments. That park in the mountains was where it all began.

The petition calls for a life-size bronze statue depicting Rhoads in a classic performance stance, designed to serve both as a cultural landmark and a source of inspiration for future musicians.

Beyond tribute, supporters emphasize the broader cultural impact. A permanent monument would not only recognize one of Burbank’s most influential artists, but also reinforce the city’s legacy as a hub for creative talent in music and entertainment.

Decades after his passing, Rhoads’ influence remains embedded in modern guitar playing—his fusion of classical discipline and heavy metal innovation continuing to shape the genre at every level.
